ABC What Can I Be

There is so much goodness packed into this book! First, this is not your typical alphabet book that usually has the same things for each letter as other books. It is based on careers kids can aspire to. But, it’s full of out-of-the-box ideas like floral designer, nutritionist, quantitative analysts, and youth director. It also includes a short description of what each job entails. The second thing that makes this book stand out is that the colorful illustrations change the narrative about who can work in each profession. Not only does it not conform to gender stereotypes, but this book contains People of Color, and a Muslim and disabled character. The added visual representation of each career is so powerful in reinforcing the inclusive principles upheld throughout. It is refreshing to see share with your children something that symbolizes the phrase, representation matters.
