This is a feel good book about a family reunion that infuses Black culture exquisitely. The main character is a young boy who doesn’t want to go to his family’s reunion. Once he gets there though he begins to warm up as he sees people that look and act like him. Soon he is rippin’ and runnin’ with cousins, judging his dad’s ribs, and chillaxin. He leaves with good vibes and ready to do it all over again next year. The authors are a son-and-father duo that use their decades of family reunion experiences to make the theme of family and culture come alive.
