Sunday Rain

I love this simple story. It combines the perfect amount of plot line and use of imagination. Sunday Rain features a young boy who just moved to a new place. He stares out the window and listens to the weather whoosh and boom outside as it starts raining. Then he hears laughter and sees kids outside jumping in the puddles. With his mom’s encouragement, he goes outside to play. He is hesitant at first but then gets wrapped up in his own adventure drawn from one of his storybooks and the other kids soon join in. This is a beautiful story of making new friends and creating adventures together.

I will note the boy’s mother is Black and father is white. You don’t often see this in books and it’s always lovely to find a story that features an interracial relationship somewhat similar to your own family.
