Usha and the Big Digger

Usha loves trucks. She loves them so much that she even finds one in the sky, the Big Digger! Her sister tells her it is the Big Dipper, but she doesn’t see it. When they show it to their cousin she sees it as the Big Kite. They realize that if they look at it from different angles they can see each of the three objects.

There are so many things I love about this book! This is part of the Storytelling Math series, which features books that contain math concepts. The back matter shares information on how people from around the world see different pictures in the stars and ideas for other math activities. To top it off, this book features Indian American characters and culture, and is filled with gorgeous illustrations that match the bold deep colors of the sky.
